It is a difficult position for Mercury to be in the 8th house, irrespective of the Rasi in the 8th house.
Firstly, the individual has dull intelligence, even if it is sharp, the individual avoids its full application, avoids written work and homework, depend on work and guidance of fellow students, if need be, by exhibiting a tendency of a snob or a bully.
